Alton Brown Weight Loss 2022: Diet Plan, Exercise, Prior to as well as After

The scope of things that Alton does is so huge that fans from one of his particular fields don’t even know other amazing talents that Brown has. He is a TV personality, author, actor, cinematographer, musician, and chef.

Brown is well-known for preparing healthy dishes. He is also a good-looking and handsome man with a very healthy appearance. However, things have not been always this way. It took Alton months of hard work where he is right now (speaking in terms of health).

He has a history of struggles with obesity. Alton had to lose 50 pounds to reach where he is today. With the sudden change in Brown’s appearance, a lot of his fans became suspicious. Some were even worried about his health. 

They had no idea that Alton’s health wasn’t declining instead, he was losing weight on purpose. There were a lot of questions, flooding Brown’s inbox. Which asked about his sudden weight loss. Here, we are going to discuss Alton’s weight loss journey in detail. Let’s find out the details.

Alton Brown’s Weight Loss Journey

Alton started his weight loss journey exactly at the same time he started his chef career. He was well aware of the fact that if he was to become a chef, he better lose weight. Because record tells that chefs have to struggle with increasing weight as their mere work is cooking delicious food which has very strong temptation.

Brown lost weight by making some important changes to his lifestyle. Those changes were not only physical but mental as well. In other words, Brown changed the way he saw weight gain. Which we will discuss later. Alton altered his diet plan. With that, he also joined a gym to burn calories which proved to be pretty well. Here are the details:

Alton’s Diet Plan

Brown’s described the way he saw diet as, “Having wrestled with weight my whole life, I knew that a diet based on denial based simply on don’t do this, don’t do that, don’t eat this, don’t eat that would ultimately fail for me”. 

He continued, “I rebel against that. I knew if I was going to design a plan that had any hope of success, it would have to be based on not things I couldn’t eat but things I had to eat because that’s more proactive”.

So, instead of wasting his day by figuring out what to stay away from, Brown embarked on the search for healthy foods. He started his own research, which made the basis of his being an author.  Brown likes to keep things natural. He went full organic.

Where before Alton ate a lot of processed food, now his eating menu consisted more of organic meat, fruits, and veggies. He made a bowl of salad mandatory on his dining table. Brown maintains that the main reason people don’t like natural food is that they have never tried it.

The main goal should be to eat the food as it is without “putting anything on it”. He explained the experience as “You’d be amazed how delicious food really is. If you get your diet adjusted properly, your tastes change and you respond more to the natural flavours in things.”

By eating healthy food such as fruits, vegetables, and organic chicken, Alton has made huge progress and he still keeps his diet plan straight. He hasn’t changed the way he eats since he embarked on the journey.

Alton Takes Responsibility

Brown believes that we are responsible for our eating habits and it makes perfect sense. His philosophy is that we are free to choose what we want to eat and we know perfectly what is good and what is not good for us. If nevertheless, they fall into the pit of obesity it is their weakness.

Brown said that “It’s just really easy for people to shirk responsibility. You’re handing the responsibility for feeding yourself to someone else. You have to hunt and gather. It takes effort, thinking, energy.”

Brown says that expose yourself to fast food as little as possible. As it triggers the old habit patterns, staying away from fast food for beginners is very important. Alton may sound a little bit strict but he is not. He says that it is okay if you fail once or twice facing temptation. But after that, it is you who is choosing to fail again and again.

Alton’s Workout Plan

Alton’s workout plan is quite simple. He says move as much as possible. Brown prefers walking as compared to driving. He runs, hikes, and swims. Besides that Alton has also joined a gym where he lifts weight for almost half an hour on daily basis except Sundays.

He said about weightlifting, “Weightlifting is the secret for men, especially. Weightlifting builds muscle, and muscle needs to eat.”

After changing his lifestyle completely, Brown’s current weight is 154 pounds. A huge change as compared to his old weight, 204 pounds. He has lost 50 pounds along the way.

By working hard day and night, the famous Japanese chef, Masaharu Morimoto, has lost 40 pounds.

Whenever weight loss is mentioned people imagine a person in the gym sweating badly and struggling for breath. However, the reality is quite different as Brown has shown to us. Andy Reid Fat Burning 2022: Diet Plan, Wellness, Before and After

Andy is an American football coach. Currently, he is the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs in the NFL. Before Kansas City, Reid was the head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999 to 2012. Throughout his career, Andy has achieved a great deal of success. 

He is the only NFL coach, who has won 100 games and has appeared in four consecutive conference championships with two different teams. Although Andy has seen victory and defeats a lot throughout his career, his team’s recent defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Chargers gave him a big shock.

He was taken to the hospital because of some illness and dehydration. Except that nothing was shared neither by Reid himself nor by his team. However, the good news is that he returned quickly and in a good health.

As time passed, it became apparent that the main reason behind Reid’s bad health was his weight. After returning from the hospital, he started working on it and has lost 60 pounds since.

On returning from the hospital, Reid said, “I’m feeling great first of all. It’s good to be back and just getting on with business as usual here.” As the apparent change in Reid’s physique was easily noticed, he got a lot of questions from his fans, who were asking how did he do that.

How did Andy Lose Weight?

Well, as it is. Reid hasn’t shared much information about his weight loss. When Reid was asked about the developments in his health, he said, “I’d probably just skip that. I’ll just leave it. I’m not much for talking about all that stuff. I wish it had never happened. It did. I appreciate the doctors for taking care of me. They were phenomenal.”

But he didn’t want to leave his friends disappointed, did he? So, when Andy was asked how did he lose weight, he replied jokingly, “I’ve lost a lot of human beings. I’ve had a lot of friends that have been hanging onto my love handles for a while.” 

He added, “I’ve dropped them off every once in a while. This was just a small child. It was about 60 pounds we were able to drop off, and hopefully, he stays away.” Andy followed the diet plan that his team trainer suggested and it worked in his favor. 

Talking about which, he said, “Some of our coaches got on a diet from our trainer, that our trainer gave them. They told me they were on this and I said, ‘You know what, I’ll jump on it with you, make it a contest.'”

By maintaining his diet and doing more exercise sessions, Reid succeeded in losing 60 pounds. His current weight is 190 pounds. Whereas before his weight loss journey, Andy weighed 250 pounds.

I’m SO SO pumped for this week’s episode and so thrilled to welcome a good friend to the show: Caitlin Boyle, whom many of you may know from the very popular blog Healthy Tipping Point.

5 Easy Resistance Band Training Exercises for Beginners

Resistance bands are a great addition to your home gym. These elastic bands used for strength training are proof that you don’t need to make a heavy investment to get in shape! Resistance bands take up no storage space and are highly versatile in working multiple muscle groups. Plus, they are easy to use! They’re also incredibly portable and beginner friendly. You can use them in virtually any room in your home or even outside.

With all of these great benefits, it’s no wonder that we’re seeing so much interest in resistance band exercises.

If you’re looking for an easy way to add strength training to your routine, then you’re in luck. We’ve rounded up five easy resistance band exercises that will help you to get lean and toned.

1. Seated Back Row with Resistance Band

A seated row exercise is a form of strength training for the back and upper arms. It’s a lot like having a rowing machine but without needing the equipment.

According to the American Council on Exercise (ACE), you can perform this exercise in a chair or on the floor. Sit down with your legs straight out in front of you. The resistance band should go under both feet. With your elbows in and close to your body, pull the arms back towards your hips. Go back to start position and repeat the move.1

2. Lat Pull Down (Without a Machine)

Here’s an easy way to work your lateral muscles without a machine. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart and grip each side of your resistance band. Hold your arms straight up, then pull one arm down with the elbow bent and to the side (keeping the other arm straight). Raise the bent arm back up to straight position and pull the alternate arm down. Repeat based on your planned number of reps.2

3. Lunges with Resistance Bands

Resistance bands can be part of a leg workout, too. In fact, you can really increase the impact of your stationary lunges by adding resistance band to this leg-toning workout.

According to ACE, you can start with one leg forward and one back in a split stance. Put the resistance band under the front foot. Holding a side of the band in each hand, bring your hands to shoulder height, lower into a lunge, and press back up to the start. Do all reps on the same leg before you move to the other one. By working the arms and the legs together, this move is now doing double duty.1

4. High-Low Partner See-Saw

Resistance bands can also be a great tool for working out with a friend or significant other. (On the Nutrisystem Partner Plan? This one is for you!) In this exercise, you should stand facing your partner, each holding one end of the band in both of their hands.

According to ACE, one partner should get into a squat position and bring their arms toward the ground while the other partner stands with arms raised over their head. You should both keep the band pulled tight, then switch positions at the same time so that one is always pushing down while the other is pulling up. This is another effective way to work both the arms and the legs in a single workout move.3

5. Crunching or Planking with Resistance Bands

Finally, you might also consider adding resistance bands to one or more of your core workouts. For instance, you can loop resistance bands around your feet for an intensified bicycle crunch. As you move your legs in that “pedaling” motion, you’ll add strength training for your leg muscles.4

You can also add resistance to your plank workouts. Of course, planks aren’t easy to begin with, so adding resistance training on top of it is more of an intermediate to advanced move as opposed to a beginner one. One way to add resistance is to loop a band around your ankles and jump feet out and back in. Or, you could loop a resistance band around the ankles and slowly raise one leg at a time to work your gluteus maximus muscles.5

As with any exercise, just be sure that you’re easing in. Since there are different levels of resistance, you might want to start with “light,” if you’re truly brand new. Buying a set will allow you to work your way up or vary the intensity of your different exercises. Soon, you’ll be on your way to being even stronger.
