POV: you’re waking up between 1-3 in the morning AGAIN. Why do I wake up between 1-3 in the morning?
Watch this week’s YouTube video
I hear this question all the time from my clients, and it’s something I struggled with myself – Why do I wake up between 1-3 in the morning every night?
When we enter our late 30s to mid-’40s, a lot of things change with our bodies (am I right?), especially as far as our hormones and ability to deal with stress.
A lot of times, you’re waking up in the middle of the night because of ~ low blood sugar ~
See, your brain needs glucose to work. When you have low blood sugar, your brain signals your adrenal glands to produce cortisol >>aka the STRESS hormone<<
Cortisol raises glucose levels which is great, but it’s also why you have anxiety and energy almost to the point where you can get up and start your day at like three in the morning.
NOT great.
To help a girl out, here are a few of my favorite bedtime snacks to stabilize your blood sugar:
A glass of whole milk (cold/warm) with honey and a dash of sea salt
Full-fat vanilla ice cream with a sprinkle of salt
An apple of pear with full-fat cheddar cheese
A small bowl of ground beef and lentils with a dash of barbecue sauce
Peanut butter and banana smoothie w/ protein powder
Smoked salmon on a whole-grain cracker
I talk more about this on Youtube, so be sure to check out the full video and save this post so you don’t forget these sleepy-time snack ideas!

What herb melts body fat?
It might not be possible without diet but herbs can help you lose weight. Many people have used herbs for this purpose throughout history. Some of them include; Green tea, Ginko Biloba, Ginger root, Ginseng, Hawthorn berry, Licorice root, Milk Thistle seed, Mullein leaf, Rosemary, St John's Wort, Turmeric, Valerian Root, and Yohimbe bark.
Herbal remedies can be taken orally or applied topically. They have nutrients that increase metabolism. These nutrients help speed up the destruction of glycogen stocks and lipids inside the cell walls. The result is the release of free fatty acids into the bloodstream, which can be burned as fuel.
Many herbs have been proven to improve immunity and prevent disease. This makes them ideal if you don't want drugs or surgery.
Many people are familiar with the benefits of herbs. Some people are unaware of the power and effectiveness of these natural substances. You can find herbs in health food stores, pharmacies, as well as online. Most of the time, one dose will last for weeks.
A good example of an herb that works by increasing the metabolic rate is green tea. Green tea has epigallocatechin gallate, which is a compound that increases the activity in enzymes responsible to breaking down fats. EGCG has also been found to improve glucose tolerance. This means it reduces the risk of diabetes.
Ginger root is another example. Ginger root is a stimulant. It increases metabolism and stimulates digestive tract. In addition, ginger helps the body eliminate toxins from the digestive system.
Other herbs that increase metabolism include ginseng, valerian root, licorice root and mullein leaf.
It is best to consume herbs as teas in most cases. This allows active ingredients to be absorbed quickly and efficiently into the bloodstream. It is important to take herbs internally with medical supervision. If you prefer to take herbs internally, you should apply them directly to the affected areas. They could cause irritation and damage to other areas.

You can find more information online about tips and tricks to lose weight. Google is a good place to start. Just type in "how to lose weight quickly" and you'll see hundreds of results.

Do smoothie cleanses work?
The important question here is whether or not you are eliminating toxins. If you're not getting rid of toxins, there might be another problem.
Cleansing must eliminate all toxins from your system in order to be effective.
If this isn't happening, you either aren't drinking enough water or haven't been eating properly.
This could also be a sign that you need to decrease your intake of salt or caffeine.
You could also be experiencing other reasons why you are not seeing results.
- Your digestive system isn't functioning correctly. This means that your body doesn't absorb what you take in.
- You don't eat enough protein. Protein helps build muscle tissue.
- You are eating too many carbs. Carbs are stored energy.
- Sugar is too high in your diet. Sugar causes insulin spikes. This slows down your metabolism.
- You're not getting enough fats. Certain vitamins require fats to be absorbed.
- Too few essential fatty acid (EFAs) are being consumed. EFAs have been proven to reduce inflammation.
- You are consuming too little fiber. Fiber absorbs excess cholesterol. It speeds up digestion.
- Insufficient vitamin C is a problem. Collagen production cannot be achieved without Vitamin C. Collagen keeps skin firm and elastic.
- You are not eating enough. Portions should be measured using a standard cup measurer.
- Your alcohol intake is excessive. Drinking alcohol is extremely drying.
- High amounts of caffeine can cause you to be addicted. Too much caffeine can damage the liver.
- Low magnesium levels are a problem. Magnesium is essential for strong bones and healthy muscles.
- You're consuming too little potassium. Potassium is required to maintain fluid balance.
Are there natural options to prescription drugs like phentermine that suppress appetite?
Green tea extract is the best alternative to prescription diet pills for those seeking weight loss. Green tea contains caffeine which stimulates metabolism, and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG), which helps burn fat by stimulating thermogenesis.
Green tea also has antioxidants that help fight free radicals. They also protect against damage caused from stress and oxidation.
But, green tea does NOT cause weight loss. It simply increases your body's efficiency at burning calories.
So yes, green tea does help with weight loss, but it won't make you lose weight unless you follow a calorie-controlled diet.
L-Carnitine supplementation is also an option. This amino acids increases energy levels and promotes the growth of muscles. The downside is that it doesn't curb your appetite, so you still need to eat regular meals.
