Batch Cook – Storage Information
- Fridge: To store extra porridge leave it to completely cool down before covering it up and placing in an airtight container. Store it in a fridge for up to 3 days. In fact the longer you leave it the better it tastes.
- Reheat: It will go quite thick as it cools down so you will need to loosen it up with a bit of water or milk and give it a good stir. Reheat it in a microwave, or in the pop into the saucepan.
- Freezer: Not suitable for freezing.
Is this recipe Slimming World friendly?
Absolutely but to keep this Syn Free you need to use your Healthy Extra allowances.
As part of your B allowance you can have 40g porridge oats. Meaning one serving of this porridge will cover this.
The same goes for milk.. use 1 litre of Semi Skimmed milk and one serving will cover one of your A allowance.
If you are not a follower of Slimming World this porridge is worth just 278 calories per serving.
But I don’t have a slow cooker?
Many people are scared of slow cooking because they believe it makes far too much food or uses too much electric.
At the moment I am highly recommending this small slow cooker from Crockpot. It is perfect for small households and will fit into small spaces/cupboards. It’s also an absolute bargain on Amazon right now!

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the best foods to lose belly fat?
Fruits and veggies are best for weight loss because they have low calories and are high in fiber. They also contain antioxidants which help to prevent cell damage. They are also rich in vitamins A, C., E, K that boost metabolism and increase energy.
For weight loss, lean proteins are best. These are high in protein as well as essential amino acids which provide the building blocks needed for muscle growth.
If you are looking to lose weight quickly then whole grains like brown rice, oats and pasta, as well as bread and cereals make excellent choices.
They are very filling and give you sustained energy throughout the day.
What is an African mango?
British explorers were the first to discover the fruit when they went on an expedition through Africa. It's been grown for centuries in South America, but due to climate change and deforestation, its production is now declining.
The African Mango Project attempts to reverse this decline by developing sustainable ways of growing East African mangoes.
They are also working to create jobs in the local area and improve communities' lives near plantations.
Their goal is to have the first commercial crop ready for harvest within 5 years.
How to take African Mango Extract
Mango extract is simple to make. Simply cut open a fresh mango and scoop the flesh into a blender. Blend until smooth.
If you need a cleaner pulp, it is possible to strain it. Store in a cool dark place.
For future use, you can freeze the pulp. The pulp can be frozen so that you don't have a second batch to purchase when mango season returns.
What can I consume to detoxify?
To cleanse your system, you need to consume foods high in fiber. This helps to move waste products from your digestive tract into the colon, where they are then eliminated as stool. Foods rich in dietary fiber include whole grains, beans, fruits, and vegetables.
Caffeine and alcohol should be avoided as they stimulate your nervous system. This can lead to increased bowel movements. Probiotics can help replenish good bacteria in your stomach. Probiotic supplements contain live cultures made up of healthy microorganisms (bacteria). These bacteria aid in digestion by producing short chain fatty acids, such as butyrate.
Butyrate, an essential nutrient in intestinal health, is vital. It is a fuel for immune cells and promotes cell turnover.
Ginger tea is a good option for diarrhea. Ginger contains compounds called gingerols that inhibit the production of prostaglandins, chemicals produced during inflammation. Prostaglandin inhibitors reduce inflammation, so ginger has been used to treat arthritis, menstrual cramps, nausea, and indigestion.
Drinking hot water before bedtime is another way to relieve insomnia. Hot water increases blood flow to the skin, helping to cool it down and relax muscles. This could improve your quality of sleep.
You don't have to go cold turkey. Begin by cutting down on coffee and other caffeinated beverages. Then cut back on soda, juice, and alcohol. Next, reduce one meal per day until you have a 20 percent reduction in your total calorie consumption.
Are there any side effects of African Mango Extract consumption?
African mango extract is safe and has no side effects. It is important to remember that this product can cause stomach upset and diarrhea in some people. This should be reported immediately to your physician.
How can I slim down naturally?
Try to eat healthy foods as much as you can. Avoid eating high-calorie snacks. Avoid eating too many processed foods. Instead, choose whole grains for breakfast such as oatmeal, barley, brown rice, etc. Avoid sugary drinks as they are high-calorie and high in sugar. Watch what you are drinking if you want to lose weight. At least eight glasses of fluids a day is a good goal.
Another tip is getting up early. Research shows that people who get up earlier are more likely to eat fewer calories during the day. Set an alarm clock to ensure you don't snooze through the day.
Finally, exercise is also very important. Aerobic exercises include running, walking and biking. You can burn fat quicker than strength training. Include aerobic exercise into your daily life.

Instead of taking the elevator, use the stairs; park farther from the entrance when shopping; walk around and talk on the phone while you wait; stand up during meetings and calls instead of sitting; and take regular breaks throughout your day to stretch and breathe deeply.
